It’s been a busy time since the last edition of the Cape York Healthy Country Newsletter. The relaxed COVID- 19 travel restrictions and dry season weather has meant that we’ve been busy out on ground making up for lost time in delivery of projects.
2020 saw Cape York NRM reach ten years of supporting people on the Cape. To celebrate, we invited people of Cape York to send us photos they felt illustrated something special to them. We were thrilled at the response! 50 amazing photos were submitted.
This edition of the Healthy Country newsletter reflects the huge amount of work going on across the Cape now that we are well and truly into the ‘dry’ season.
The rush is on to beat the wet season and it is full steam ahead across Cape York. The huge amount of activity at the start of this dry season has continued with tourist numbers only now starting to slow, and mustering continuing as landholders take advantage of the current cattle prices.
As of 1 February 2017 it became “a requirement for quad bike riders and the drivers of utility offroad vehicles, and any passengers carried, to wear an approved motorcycle helmet when the vehicle is operating on a road or road-related area.
The NRM Spatial Hub is a web-based tool that helps rangeland graziers decide how to optimise their grazing land management by bringing together map, satellite and grazier knowledge.
