About the program

The goal of this four-year program is to work with participating grazing land managers to develop and implement practical action plans that improve soil stability, native vegetation, and water quality in the Joint Management Area (JMA) of the Mitchell River catchment.

Pormpuraaw Aboriginal Lands and Waters fire management plan

The Pormpuraaw fire management plan was created by the Pormpuraaw Land and Sea Management group on behalf of the Thaayorre and Mungkan Traditional Owners and the Pormpuraaw Aboriginal Shire Council in conjunction with Cape York Sustainable Futures and Firescape Science, to provide various strategies.
