Cape York NRM is adapting a socio-ecological systems approach for the development of a natural resource management plan, addressing the distinctive cultural landscapes of Cape York. The implementation process involves learning-by-doing consultation strategies, integration of current synthesised studies, and the notation of recent environmental accounts conducted on Cape York.
This community engagement project within the Mitchel River catchment area was delivered with the Mitchell River Watershed Management Group Coordinator to communicate the NRM Plan process with Traditional Owners and Grazers in the Mitchell River Catchment.
One-one-one interviews were held with a focus on the "Your Climate" questionnaire and bioregions were identified within the Mitchell River Catchmnet area for future rehabilitation and protection works at a local scale.
