Help shape the future of Cape York NRM

Members are invited to apply for a position on the Director Selection Panel to assess Director nominations.

Cape York NRM is seeking expression of interests for the appointment to its Director Selection Panel (DSP).

At the AGM last year, the members approved a change in how Directors are selected. This year Director nominations will be assessed by the Director Selection Panel and where there is more than one eligible nomination for a Sector, members of that Sector will be invited to vote by secret ballot.

The DSP is appointed by the Board and will comprise of three members including an independent chair, a current Board Director and a member representative. In establishing the DSP, the Board will have consideration of:

  • Selecting an independent Chair with broad-based NRM skills, experience, credibility and respect in the Cape York region and with an acknowledged lack of conflict of interest to any faction of members;
  • A mix of indigenous and non-indigenous members with gender and age diversity; and
  • A mix of sector-based representation

Members of the Director Selection Panel are expected to read and assess the nominations for Directors and participate in 2–3 teleconference meetings to discuss the applications. The time commitment will vary depending on the number of nominations received and it is anticipated that it will require approximately 1–2 days total time.

Members of the Panel will receive sitting fees and reimbursement of all out of pocket expenses.

This year the Director Selection Panel will oversee the recruitment of 3 Director positions which will become vacant on the 11 October 2020. The vacant positions are:

  1. Indigenous Zone 1
  2. Indigenous Zone 3
  3. Indigenous Zone 4
