Expressions of interest invited—Biodiversity Bright Spots: Golden-shouldered Parrot Project
Northern Gulf Resource Management Group and Cape York NRM invite expressions of interest from organisations, groups and individuals for funding through our joint National Landcare Program (NLP) project Biodiversity Bright Spots: Golden-shouldered parrot. To register your expression of interest you must complete the Expression of Interest form and submit by Friday 7th February 2020. All submissions will receive acknowledgment of receipt and further information.
Projects for this first EOI round are to be completed by the 30th June 2021 with a total maximum budget of $80,000 (excl. GST). However, applicants may submit more than one application. The total amount of funding available for the first EOI round is $417,000 (exc. GST). Please note that the submission of an EOI application does not guarantee your project will be funded.

Assessment process
Eligible applications will be assessed by an independent panel of experts against the criteria below according to the relative weightings of each criterion.
Applications are expected to be assessed by the end of February 2020. Successful applicants will be notified and will then work with Northern Gulf RMG and Cape York NRM to develop detailed project plans including monitoring, reporting and milestones.

Eligibility Criteria
Eligible applicants include organisations, groups and individuals which submit projects that:
- Align with one or more of the Biodiversity Bright Spots program objectives, and;
- Align with at least one, and up to three, aims of the Draft Golden-Shouldered Parrot Recovery Plan, and;
- Meet the appropriate engagement protocols and has the consent of the appropriate owners/managers and Traditional Owners of the land on which the project is to be undertaken.
Assessment criteria
- Demonstrate how the project supports Traditional Owner and land holder involvement in golden-shouldered parrot conservation and management (15%)
- Demonstrate how the project will contribute to the Specific Objectives indicated in Eligibility Criteria 1 (BBS Objectives) and 2 (Recovery Team objectives) (20%)
- Demonstrate that the project is well designed and technically feasible (30%)
- Demonstrate how the project contributes to an improved understanding of the golden-shouldered parrot’s recovery needs (15%)
- Demonstrate your capability to successfully deliver the grant project in the chosen location(s), on time and within budget (20%)
Ineligible activities
- Activities that do not contribute at least one objective of the Draft Golden-Shouldered Parrot Recovery Plan 2019-2029, or are outside the scope of this plan
- Activities that have not completed the “Expression of Interest Form to work with Traditional Owners for Golden-shouldered Parrot Recovery”, and/or do not have the consent of the appropriate owners/managers and Traditional Owners of the land on which the project is to be undertaken
- Activities that repeat work already completed (this does not include on-going management or monitoring that is needed to ensure golden-shouldered parrot conservation)
- Activities that endanger human lives or damage property or impact on cultural values
- Captive breeding or translocation
- Activities that require live golden-shouldered parrots or other native animals to be killed
- Year one activities that cannot be undertaken under existing ethics or wildlife permits, or year two or three that have no prospect of being approved under ethics or wildlife permits
- Activities that do not contribute to at least one objective of the Biodiversity Bright Spots program objects
