Heal Country

As we enter into NAIDOC week, we would like to thank you all for taking some time to consider our land, waters, heritage and cultural sites across Cape York Peninsula, and the importance of the whole landscape across hearts and souls. The emotional, physical, spiritual and cultural connection of our Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander people to the land and waters, is critical to a healthy and healing future. Cape York NRM are committed to supporting protection from exploitation and destruction and are listening to the past, the stories and the impacts, whether natural or human.

This year’s theme for NAIDOC, “Heal Country” is very special, and a time for us all to reflect on how we can contribute to healing the country, through feeling, hearing, seeing and opening our minds to the truth of the past. Today is because of yesterday, but tomorrow will be because of today. Today counts and together we all play a part towards a healing country.

Enjoy the NAIDOC celebrations this week and take a few minutes to think about what a healing country means to you.
