This report was the first major product of a consortium project of scientists from James Cook Univeristy and CSIRO and was funded by steam 2 of the Regional NRM Planning for Climate Change Fund.

The plan identifies and interprets the state’s interests in land use planning and development, as described in the State Planning Policy, for the Cape York region. The plan does this by evaluating and balancing competing state interests in a regional context.
The continuation of the Rubber Vine Control works on Lukin River Containment line has shown a targeted approach which continues to reduce the threat of Rubber Vine extending past the containment line. The areas controlled cover a total area of approx 784 ha with 28 km of River.
The Pormpuraaw fire management plan was created by the Pormpuraaw Land and Sea Management group on behalf of the Thaayorre and Mungkan Traditional Owners and the Pormpuraaw Aboriginal Shire Council in conjunction with Cape York Sustainable Futures and Firescape Science, to provide various strategies.
