Laura Rangers

SCYC and the Laura Rangers have had an ongoing partnership since 2007, which has been funded by the Queensland Government through the Land and Sea Ranger Program.  
This project has included: 

  • Cultural Heritage and Rock Art Site identification and recording 
  • Biodiversity surveys
  • Weed and feral animal management 
  • Fire management 
  • Junior Ranger program with the Laura State School 
  • Water Quality Monitoring

Laura Rangers water monitoring continues

The Laura Rangers are continuing to expand their capacity to monitor water quality in the Laura-Normanby catchment. Recently the Rangers received training in operating the new automatic water sampling equipment installed in the East and West Normanby Rivers by the Department of Science, Information, Technology and Innovation (DSITI).
