About this role
Cape York Natural Resource Management (Cape York NRM) is a not-for-profit organisation that works to encourage voluntary adoption of improved natural resource management across all land tenures and land uses on Cape York. We focus on achieving positive outcomes for the people of Cape York through the coordination and delivery of high-quality programs that meet the standards of both government and commercial clients.
This position is responsible for supporting the Western Cape Turtle Threat Abatement Alliance (WCTTAA) to achieve its vision of efficiently managing threats to coastal habitats and enhancing opportunities for nesting marine turtle populations on Western Cape York.
The WCTTAA Coordinator will coordinate and support all aspects of the WCTTAA’s work including; delivery of the Nest to Ocean Turtle Protection Program, participation as a demonstration site for the National Feral Pig Action Plan, communicating the outcomes of the WCTTAA’s work, provision of secretariat support, and sourcing ongoing resources to implement marine turtle protection activities.
The WCTTAA is a partnership of on-ground land and sea owners and managers from Northern Peninsula Area Regional Council, Mapoon Aboriginal Shire Council, Napranum Aboriginal Shire Council, Pormpuraaw Aboriginal Shire Council and Kowanyama Aboriginal Shire Council. WCTTAA was formed to set priorities, seek solutions and share knowledge to maximise the use of resources for coastal management on western Cape York. WCTTAA operates in onshore coastal waters and beaches from Mitchell River to Pajinka, on western Cape York.
