Healthy soils are the foundation of a sustainable landscape. The ancient soils of the Cape are a constant challenge to land managers who are working to improve commerical productivity through improving soil health.

What happens to the soils impacts the creeks, rivers, and wetlands. Erosion, overgrazing, wildfires and changes to annual weather patterns can contribute to degrading soils, infilling wetlands and springs and contribute to increased sediment in waterways.

This edition covers some of the innovative restoration and experimentation work being undertaken by responsible land managers on the Cape.
