New CEO for Cape York NRM

The Board of Cape York NRM has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer to take the helm of the organisation later this month.

“We are very pleased that Pip Schroor has accepted this role, which will begin on May 15,” Board Chair Sally Gray said.

“Pip has lived and worked in Cape York Peninsula for more than 15 years and is passionate about the protection of both the environmental and the cultural values of Cape York Peninsula.

“She brings with her a long history of engagement and partnership development with First Nations people in Cape York Peninsula.”

Pip has most recently been the Regional Resilience Coordinator for Torres Cape Indigenous Council Alliance (TCICA), assessing resilience to disaster events, impacts of climate change and preparedness in  long term regional resilience planning.

“These areas of expertise are vital in keeping our organisation at the forefront of land management on the Cape,” Sally said.

“Her knowledge of the landscape, biodiversity and the diversity of land holders within the region will guide us in building more, and stronger, partnerships with our community.”

Pip began her career as a ranger with Queensland Parks and Wildlife after attaining her Bachelor of Applied Science in Environmental Resource Management. She became the first female Ranger-in-Charge at Kutini Payamu (Iron Range) National Park (CYPAL).

“We welcome Pip and look forward to working with her in this new chapter of the organisation,” Sally said.
