Chili Beach Clean-up - Tangaroa Blue

10 Aug 2019 - 18 Aug 2019

An amazing volunteering opportunity to visit Chili Beach, a 7km stretch of white tropical beach, fringed with coconut palms and impressive sand dunes, with magnificent pink sunrises that make this place paradise!

Unfortunately it is also another hotspot for marine debris in the remote Cape York region. Tangaroa Blue will rehabilitate the stretch of coastline over five days by removing, sorting and recording rubbish items from this picture-perfect paradise.

The group will meet and depart from Cairns at 8am, traveling to Coen where to overnight. Some interesting side stops will be made over the two day drive before reaching the campsite which will be home for the next five days.

Seats are limited so register early to secure your spot! Volunteers with their own 4WD vehicles are welcome to join the convoy to drive up to this event, or can meet on site, just let vanessa@tangaroablue.org know for catering purposes.

Due to the proximity of the Aboriginal community of Lockhart River, basic shopping facilities are a relatively short trip away by car. The camp area is very basic with only toilets onsite but there will be a shower run throughout the week to QLD Parks and Wildlife’s base.

You will help set up the kitchen and prepare meals together—all food and equipment is provided. All you need to bring is your sleeping gear (tents, blankets, pillow, mattress, etc).
