Dawnvale Station Weed Control

Project summary

Stage 1:

A source area of environmental weeds, including Sicklepod (Senna obtusifolia), has been controlled over the past few years and needed a follow-up spray to continue treatment. The weeds are a source area for downstream contamination. Eddie Madsen has managed the area over several years and has conducted the works needed with support from Jabalbina. Weed Control is essential to stop further infection along the Bloomfield river, because access in to the Bloomfield river is near impossible and also to prevent reinfestation in the Wujal Wujal Dogit Land along the food plans of the Bloomfield River.
Dawnvale Station is an Indigenous owned property in the Bloomfield area, above Wujal Wujal on the Bloomfield River watershed. Dawnvale has little management, and has the potential to spread Sicklepod over a larger area if not treated continually year after year.
This project has sprayed weeds, particularly Sicklepod, and has recorded the sprayed patches for monitoring and to guide future weed control. Several other weeds were sprayed during this project.
