Rubber Vine Control, Targeting the Established Lukin River Containment Area 2016

Project summary

The continuation of the Rubber Vine Control works on Lukin River Containment line has shown a targeted approach which continues to reduce the threat of Rubber Vine extending past the containment line. The control works continue to be a success, building on the previous 3 years of on ground works to contain and reduce Rubber Vine along the Lukin River. The areas controlled in 2016 cover a total area of approx 784 ha with 28 km of River.

A strong legacy has been established by ensuring station owners of Yarraden Statioin and local Traditional Owners Wunthulpu Aboriginal Land Trust are empowered with resources, technical expertise, project details to date and leadership of project in order to champion land management in their “country”. Teams partnered to work on ground along the containment line in October 2016.

An aerial survey in the mid to late wet season, to identify any flowering plants.
