Erich’s employment as Land and Water Officer with Cape York NRM commenced in January 2019.

He came to this role with extensive experience in nature conservation and business, and brings many years of teaching expertise to the organisation. Erich has also worked in local government where he was involved in risk management and governance-related jobs.

Erich has previous work experience with farming communities in NSW, and in Alice Springs in the Northern Territory. As Land and Water Officer with Cape York NRM his role connects him with the people working and living in the farming communities of Far North Queensland.

Accompanied by his family, Erich left South Africa in 1999 and, after a five year teaching stint in New Zealand, arrived in Queensland where he recognised climate, lifestyle and people were in many ways similar to his homeland.
